Last night we went to Connor’s end-of-season soccer party. There were a handful of trophies presented and Connor received “Most Improved Player 2009” but his coach remarked that he wished they would have changed the title to “Rookie of the Year” for Connor.
Connor worked really really hard from the very first practice and continued to improve each and every time he got his foot on the ball. We are especially pleased at how positive he kept his attitude, never complained about having to work hard and strived to be a real team player.
He scored three goals this season and was an integral part of several others scored. You would never ever have known that this was the first time he had played on a sports team of any sort. I have to tell you that it was my extreme pleasure to watch him out on the field, sweaty and red-faced, running full tilt toward the ball and playing his heart out. The two games that I missed due to weather and the baby are two of the greatest losses I had this year…that is how much I enjoyed watching Connor on the field.
Great work Big C! Dad and I think that you are the coolest kid and that trophy (voted on by his teammates) is just further proof that when you try your best, work as hard as you can and keep a positive attitude…people notice.
Next stop…indoor soccer at the YMCA. woo hoo!!!!
If you would take a moment to leave Connor a comment I am sure that he would be so happy to read them.
