Corrigan speaks. Mommy smiles. (video)

This video is full of gems that you can thank me for later…like the ugly carpet in all of our rooms. You are so jealous, right?  And that basket of laundry? You can only wish yours was piled so high!  Not to mention the sound of my voice.  Sweet Mother of Pearl, do I really sound like that?

Just ignore the fact that Corrigan tries to close the door in my face to make me shut up.  It means that he loves me, right? ha!

I wanted to record Corrigan’s progress with his learning. I just wish I could have found a foam number 7.  The way that he pronounces seven (“sessy!”) is something I want recorded for posterity!

I know that to most mom’s this video is not a big deal. He is exactly 2 1/2 years old now and most kids his age probably have a handle on this stuff.  I long ago gave away all of my baby/toddler developmental books so I have no idea what he “should” be doing right now. Corrigan’s path is going to be a different one than his older brother’s, that much I know. Connor knew all of his alphabet by 13 months of age, he could point them all out on request and was writing letters before age 2.  But with Corrigan it is all about celebrating the little victories.

There is a song on the Top40 right now, by Katie Perry, and each time I hear it I think of Corrigan. This part of the song makes me smile…

” ‘Cause baby, you’re a firework
Come on, show ’em what you’re worth
Make ’em go, oh
As you shoot across the sky

Baby, you’re a firework
Come on, let your colors burst
Make ’em go, oh
You’re gonna leave ’em falling down”

Corrigan is going to blow them away. Boom Boom Boom, Corrigan. Even higher than the moon, moon, moon!

Here is my little mismatched, bedheaded cutie-pie!

  1. Wow, he’s awesome! Trust me, I’ve been a preschool teacher of 3 & 4 year olds, at a private preschool, for 10 years, and most kids DO NOT have a handle on that stuff! I would say maybe 1/4 of my kids recognize any of their letters when they begin my 3 year old class! You’re doing an amazing job with him!

  2. Kate, makes me smile too. A lot.

Sandi, really? Honest? Because wow, you just made my whole week. We have been chasing the milestones from day one and his therapists do not act too impressed with his letter recognition so I thought we were behind. Might be the first thing Corrigan is ahead on! Wooooo Hoooo!

Sairah, his enunciation cracks me up. Glad you could understand him!
